Why do we give?
We give because God gives. He gives us our next breath to breathe. He gives us practical needs like food and water. He gives us internal strength such as joy, peace and love. Ultimately, He loved us so much that He gave us the greatest gift of complete forgiveness and eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ. Rise Church is committed to model this spirit of giving not only in the way we serve others, but also in giving back to God’s work financially through tithes and offerings.

So what is a tithe and what is an offering?
In the beginning, God created everything good. We are stewards, not owners, of what God has given to us and entrusts to us. A tithe is when we give back to God a portion of what is already His.
The word “Tithe” means 10%. The Bible instructs us to bring the tithe first. In other words, to give back to God the first 10% of our income which He blessed us with.
"You win when you give."
Giving is more than an act of obedience, it is a gateway to blessing. God invites us to test Him in giving a full tithe.
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
Jesus said we should tithe.
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."
An Offering is any amount above 10% that is given to God. The Bible teaches this kind of giving as going over and beyond the tithe and should be done with a cheerful heart.
